Looks like Summers has clean forgot about how the Bushes were close personal friends and business partners with the Saudis.
.
Summers also forgot this:
“Saudi Arabia, I get along with all of them. They buy apartments from me. They spend $40 million, $50 million,” Trump told a crowd at an Alabama rally on Aug. 21, 2015, the same day he created four of the entities. “Am I supposed to dislike them? I like them very much.” — Stable Genius
.
Funny how Trump Disciples have such selective memories.
If we had invested in alternative energy back in the 70’s, this would all have been a moot point. Thanks Ronnie /s.
If we had approached other energy sources the way we approached the NASA moon project back in the 60’s, gas would be a novelty fuel used in classic and antique vehicles and oil would be used as one of several lubricants besides those that could be processed from easily grown plants.
All hail the corporate state and corporate Democrats! We’re now in a global economy, so any oil on the market affects us. Back in 1967, after the June War, we actually offered to supply Europe with a half million barrels a day to offset the Arab boycott, as we did in 1956 after the Suez Crisis. We had import restrictions on oil. Back then, the United States was a virtual autarchy, importing only tea, coffee, and bananas, none of which grow here.
Amazing thoughts by the liberal posters above. Yeah, great idea to put handcuffs on U.S. oil producers, and then, when the price shoots up to the highest level ever recorded, and the democrat party’s polling is the lowest ever, they scramble to get oil from the worst of the worst, when we have plenty here. The electric grid can’t handle all these new E.V.’s (just ask California that told there residents not to charge their vehicles after 7 p.m.). Democrat motto: – Judge us on our intent, not the results (which are always devastatingly bad!
I live in Texas and get some checks each month from oil royalties. The companies here are going full blast and new wells are coming in. It’s a myth that they are being held back by the government.
The U.S. doesn’t have a good record for supporting democracy over autocrats who pledge to continue supplying critical materials to it. Not exactly a great revelation.
Before you complain about how the U.S. is being mean to the American oil industry, you first have to explain why you support the insane, out-of-control profit margins of the American oil industry.
Biden can’t win with the GOP. Either he has to listen to them whine about high gas prices or whine about him trying to get more oil out of those despots.
AND DON’T EVEN respond with the BS pipeline and American production. The pipeline was going to the southern coast where it would’ve been shipped elsewhere and there are plenty of open leases not being pursued by Big Oil so that the purposely limited supply keeps their profits sky high.
2 reasons to invest heavily in green infrastructure and fossil fuel consumption reduction. For now the USA is still suckling on the petroteats of the world because of our procrastination. Thanks ronny 1980.

Ask why American oil companies are not producing as much as they have the ability to.

^^ Thinks that oil corporations choosing not to drill and raking in record profits is handcuffing them. Sounds like really comic thinking to me, man.
