Most of our problems are due to our own ignorance, we should smarten up or lose it all.

Don’t it make you wish that they would stop changing the perfectly good names of countries we studied about – such as Burma, Siam, Formosa, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.

Always had fun as a university lecturer in the States. I’d ask the students if it would be acceptable to them if a foreign power build a permanent military base in America. Outrage ensued. At the time, the States had 180 permanent military bases in foreign countries.

Let’s bring back the draft and watch how quickly the Republicans will fund the Ukraine.

Places like Casablanca, Oron, Algiers, Palermo, Naples, or Anzio. Then the Islands of the Pacific he heard about on the radio, Midway, Guadalcanal, Okinawa.

A Generation later, I was searching the map of Southeastern Asia. Looking at Danang, Mekong, Hanoi among others.

25 years later we were looking at places like Kuwait, Baghdad, Mozul, Kandahar, Kabul and Jalalabad.
