As far as I can tell, “Redskin” (meaning American Indian) is at worst disrespectful, not really insulting or still less “racist”. Then again, I’m not an American Indian, so perhaps I haven’t been on the receiving end of the term being used as a deliberate insult (it’s rather obsolete, in any case).
Possibly people would have a better handle on the issues at stake if someone were to propose a sports team named “The Washington Darkies”. Truly icky, for sure, but not exactly “racist”.
Actually, Kevin, they ALL would be “bigoted” in nature and NONE of them would be considered “racist” because the depictions ALL show various “orientals” but the names don’t match with our current perceptions of race!
To have this discussion at all, you must first establish a definition of what “racism” actually is, and, here in America, racism is mostly a matter of ‘perception’ and THAT is very difficult to “nail down”.

Accusations of “liberal” or “Political Correctness” are the usual defense when one has adopted an indefensible position.

Strange part is that they are ALL “Noble Warriors” from various times in World History.

How about “Foreskins”. A team that is hard to beat.
