Three Tennessee legislators expressed the same noble support for children over battlefield mass casualty weapons in exactly the same manner in exactly the same protest, standing together in the well of the Capitol as they did it, but only those of African descent were successfully expelled in an act of overt, blatant racism.
Tennessee, a state that once committed treason in rebellion against the United States to support their “right” to own other human beings, is where the Ku Klux Klan was founded, where Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated and the state that gave us genocidal Andrew Jackson, the owner of enslaved African Americans and the mass murderer who concocted the Trail of Tears genocide against Indigenous Americans, today lived down to the worst of their reputation as a gerrymandered legislature voted to overthrow democracy. SHAME!
Fellow Tennessean Davy Crockett confronted and opposed his military commander Andrew Jackson when he issued an order to genocidally murder indigenous people, and later when Andrew Jackson was president and Davy Crockett was a congressman, opposed and spoke out against the genocidal “Trail of Tears” ordered by Jackson.
The vote in the Senate to pass the legislation to implement Andrew Jackson’s genocidal Trail of Tears against indigenous Americans was a lopsided vote of 28 to 19.
But in the House of Representatives, after Davy Crockett’s forceful speech in defense of human rights for the First Americans, the enabling legislation barely passed by only four votes, 101 to 97.
