As Lawrence O’Donnell reported on his program this week, Kaitlan Collins, the CNN “interviewer” who was way over her head, is a former conservative commentator who was hired by CNN from her previous employer, Faux “News.”
Hiring a Faux “News” right wing analyst to toss softballs with minimal follow-up, before an audience stacked with Trump supporters, reveals that CNN is now joining the race to the bottom, running against “Faux,” NoiseMax and OANN.
CNN (or should I say “Faux II”) did allow Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper to follow up with their own show which critiqued both the Town Hall and Trump’s lies, but these two credible hosts need to find themselves a new media home if they don’t want their own professional credibility tarnished by CNN’s downward turn.
Real journalism would have meant one of their top correspondents handling the questions, including tough follow-up questions, and prepared to respond to the dodging and evasion for which Trump is so famous.
Will CNN report this donation of free advertising under the very false pretense of “journalism” as the “in kind contribution” that it really is?
