The great blue jean SHRINKAGE inquisition In the store: Cathy: Are you sure they won't shrink?? Are you positive they won't shrink?? Does a "possible 1/4 inch shrinkage in length" mean a true 1/4 inch. or might it be more like 3/8 inch? If they're "pre-shrunk", why might they shrink at all in length...and if they could shrink in length, couldn't they also shrink in the rear,...and if they did shrink in the rear, would they stretch out right away or stay shrunk? If I wash them in cold and hang to dry, how cool must the room temperature be to prevent "open air shrinkage"... ...And then if I toss them in the dryer to unstiffen them, how many seconds can they tumble on "low" before I risk a "shrinkage-from-completely-dry-fabric" situation?? THESE JEANS MUST NOT SHRINK! At home: Irving: Dark colors. Hot water. Whatever.

LOL. I do my laundry like Irving.

hmm, seems there’s more of a shrinking problem than the pants.

Ugh, the super-small print is back. I complained last time but GoComics said there was nothing they could do. Eleven years later, you’d think they’d have figured something out.

I have not owned any clothes that bleed color in many years. That would be the only reason to wash clothes with “like colors”.

And that’s why both should have their own laundry bags.

My DH has never touched a washing machine to do a wash, let alone know how to use it. He just pays for them for me to use. I too am very fussy about how the laundry turns out. I taught my DS’s how, and then my GS’s. Laundry is my favorite chore. Of course I might not say that if I had to go down to the Genesse River which runs through town, and scrub them on a rock.

Oy vey …
I think my head exploded while I read this one. Leave it to Cathy to make thinking about laundry such an, uh, adventure.
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, Clan.

I was very lucky way back when I was ready to leave for university. My mother took the time to teach me all about laundry. She even thought to sew a tiny bit of white yarn into the tops of all my socks so when the inevitable happened and someone else in the residence threw their clothes into the dryer without checking I could easily identify mine. It was my father that taught me how to iron. There was more than one guy in the residence that ended up with coloured white shirts.
Anybody need some extra rain? I will gladly send you some as our lawn is looking like a swamp again. Have a great Sunday!

A dashiki is starting to sound like a good fashion move for Cathy.

Help is good ….. unless it makes things a lot worse for you than having no help at all.
I know Irving means well but hopefully this is all HIS laundry that he’s about to ruin and none of Cathy’s things are involved. He may or may not buy his clothes at the high-priced mall stores but she most definitely DOES so the last thing their bank account needs is for him to carelessly destroy any of it so that she’ll have a good “reason” to go out and buy even MORE to replace them! :-/

Ever notice anyone wearing ‘skinny’ jeans seems like all their fat (no matter if it’s a little or a lot) ends up pushed up to their ass?
