Christmas is NOT a CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY and has precious little to do with the birth of Jesus.
Jesus is not the “reason for the season.” The SEASON is WINTER and the “reason for the season” is the winter solstice caused by the earth’s axial tilt. Jesus has very little to do with most of the Christmas holiday observances, with its many pagan origins, which is one reason the Puritans outlawed Christmas observances in much of early New England in the original “war on Christmas” (by Christians).
Christmas is NOT a “Christian” holiday. It is a PAGAN holiday, with Pagan symbols, that long pre-date Jesus or Christmas. The Bible accounts of Jesus’ birth make no mention of evergreen trees, symbols of life through winter. (Decorated Yule trees long predate Jesus, and were known in Old Testament times, where they were denounced as being Pagan or heathen in origin [Jeremiah 10:2-4]).
Jesus does not even have much to do with the Christmas holiday as it is celebrated by “Christians” today — with its many pagan origins (elves, holly, evergreen trees and Father Winter were observed in far northern countries long before Jesus), which is one reason the Puritans outlawed Christmas observances in much of early New England in the original “war on Christmas” (by Christians).
The Bible includes no yule logs or holiday holly berries that bear their fruit in the snowy cold of Northern winters; no Father Winter or magical elves bringing treats (and tricks).
All of these are PAGAN in origin and were co-opted by Christians who converted from Paganism but were not willing to give up their holidays, just as those who cease to believe in Judeo-Christian-Islamic myths and legends continue to celebrate rituals they found to be enjoyable.
