Oooh, and you were so close. Maybe next time, Calvin.
Close, but no cigar. (He was going for a cigar, too)
Good catch, Mom! Every time he gets in the car, he ditches it!
You almost made it, Calvin. Keep on trying!
ah… the proverbial slip :)
this…..is so good ;-)
That was actually a pretty good try!
I thought, like Calvin, that the 3rd time is the charm….. Phooey…
His mom almost fell for it…
It was a Kodak moment when Watterson first drew it.
Still at the age when Mom has all the answers.
Oh so very close. Nice try Calvin.
“How fast can our car go?”Go shovel the walk, Calvin!
how was every things Calvin ?
Smart kid!!! =)
If would want to avoid being out on the streets when Calvin becomes a teenager and gets his driver’s license!!!!
Aw, that was so close too.
Good chance she will miss those questions. Especially since Calvin will be finding out the answers by then…
Mom’s got that little grin at the end; she was amused by the attempt and her near-failure.
Awwwwwwww! Better Luck next time, Calvin.
I’m sure there will be lots and lots of next times!
I want to drive too.
The part I love about this one is the fact that for just one millisecond, she was about to tell him to go drive the car.
Put Calvin on a roller coaster for an entire afternoon and he may not ask that question about the car for quite a long time….
Here’s an alternative answer to the question about the car: “About a zillion miles an hour”…Calvin’s mind might fog over trying to absorb what that means…
if he asked how far he could jump off the roof she would said, “Go outside and see”
…moms with kids like Calvin either quickly learn to " think on their feet"…even while reading…or go totally “NUTS”…
A kid like Calvin will certainly keep a parent on their toes! And if he’s this way now . . . at the age of 6 . . . imagine what he’s going to be like when he gets older!
ASKAR?I hear that’s how Jeff Gordon started!
Well I think that last question got her attention.
Parents whose kids make it to adulthood have a second layer of consciousness devoted entirely to analyzing Calvin-type strategies. Thanks, mom.
almost got her. he’s getting closer.
Mum didn’t even try hard.
The mom is savvy to those tricks.
He was so close
i used to always do this and one time it actualy worked and it was to walk to town and i was just about to walk out the door when my mom reallized what had happend.poor calvin.
