Definitely the voice of someone who has never worked in the public sector. Public service — REAL public service — does not pay well, offers cruel treatment from above and from the public, and is hard work. But at least there are benefits.
My husband’s 18 year service on the local ambulance board cost us some 3 to 5 thousand dollars in lost wages each year. He does not rue a minute of the time spent there.
