You can only checkmate someone when you’re gotten rid of your opponents last piece, right? Then how come there are still white pieces on the board when Nate called checkmate?

I just realized that match ended in two moves. The only way that can happen is through something called fool’s mate, which a kid playing at Nate’s level wouldn’t do (at least I hope not)

I have been playing chess for over a decade. A word of advice for any competition: Never take ANY opponents lightly. That’s when you let your guard down, and then they strike.
