That’s all true. I wasn’t defending wind-up watches at all. I switched to electronic watches that actually display the time (instead of a code using two lines) as soon as they were available.
That’s nice, but that’s not what the word means. Parents, of course, can be proud of their children because they produced and raised them. You can be proud of someone who uses skills you taught them. Pride is all about yourself, that’s why it’s one of the deadly sins.
Another bad assumption. So-called sedentary lifestyle has nothing to do with self-winding watches. You can still buy watch winders, a device which moves a watch around to activate the self-winding mechanism. Also, why a veggie cart when there are so many farmers markets still around (at least in my area)?
And how many “Americans” don’t know that America is two continents and not a single country?
