Once in elementary school, several of us were caught doing something that earned us a week of sitting in the principal’s office during recess instead of going outdoors as usual. I think my folks must have heard about it but I don’t recall any additional punishment from them. Wallace’s mother should react the same and consider that he’s already paid his due punishment in school.
When my older brother was in high school (and I was in elementary), he showed me his slide rule, and said that soon I would be using one. By the time I reached that point, calculators had taken over and I never used a slide rule. And I haven’t done long division since school, many decades ago.
When I came home from work, I just wanted to crash and forget my day. When my wife (of many years ago) came home, she would dump her whole day on me with EVERY detail, including what her boss said….what her customers said, etc. I was expected to pay attention to it all, and if she suspected I was zoning out, I’d get quized on what she just said.
Yea, you can be done learning life lessons. Doesn’t mean you’ll stop getting them, though.
