    Vetoed for economic reasons including the cost of litigation only to have it struck down as unconstitutional. Very unlikely because it was/is repugnant. Either way, it was the best answer. I would prefer it was vetoed because it is wrong morally, etc., and for economic reasons second. The way it is now, it shows we as Americans still have a very long way to true equality for all Americans.

    You are wrong cjr53…yes the bill was stupid for many reasons but…..now the MILITANT GAYS can sue companies…it already happened in New Mexico…here it comes folks…get ready

    @alexzabala

    The right to sue for any possible little peccadillo is the SAME now as it was before the bill was conceived, voted on and subsequently vetoed by Governor Brewer.
    .

    I believe your outrage is ridiculous. Anyone can file a lawsuit. Where it goes in the court system is a guess anyone can make. You seem to be asserting that “militant gays” now have new rights that did not exist before.
    .
    And, I believe you proved my point. America has a very long way to go for true equality for ALL Americans.

    And, if shop keepers, etc. treated all of their customers the same and didn’t let their personal disapproval of other guide their actions, then the likelihood of being sued is greatly diminished.

    Whatever happened to the signs we read in restaurants: ‘We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone’?

    ^It was called the “Civil Rights Act”, and wasn’t just applicable to racial designation…

    Exactly…so…if you own a cake decorating business and a Klu Klux Clan member wants to hire you to decorate a cake that says ‘Kill All Blacks’ can you refuse to do so without getting sued? Please answer me.
