Congress is bound and determined to (1) overturn the ACA and (2) do another costly, wasteful, ineffective, health care plan that leaves many unable to afford coverage rather than choosing a cost effective single payer plan that most Americans would benefit from but would not align with their ideology.
Pleasing your base and the president is more important than doing the right thing and honoring your oath of office to serve all of the population. Most Americans are willfully ignorant about how government works so, you they can probably get away with it.
