Europe’s problem is a common currency shared between countries with different fiscal policies. Like roping a bunch of bicycle riders together: without the rope they’d all move along at their own speeds, but with the rope they all fall down.

The least you can do is be civil about it. Otherwise you come off as a hot headed toxic mouth. Not pleasant in any circumstance.

If the EU wants to survive they will have to allign all the countries currencies with the the same fiscal pattern. That and stop with the austerity which is a killer of democracy. It feeds fascism.

You have that right. No country in the history of the world has ever “austeritied” their way to prosperity.

Believe the avg. PERSONAL debt is North of
$ 6k. The 1st financial rule for debt, when you find yourself in a hole, STOP DIGGING !
This is no different in the aggregate, but think that we are TO BIG, CAN’T FAIL !
The only redeeming thing about Govt. debt, is China (who holds the biggest IOU’s, has a VESTED interesest in us remaining afloat)
+ also their biggest export customer, too !

The deficit has been reduced by this administration rapidly coraryan. Sadly, you are still so misinformed by Faux News, and the RNC you failed to keep up with Obama’s successes.

The deficit reduction has been 800 billion improvement since Obama became president, the fastest since WWII!

It was easy to predict that the Euro would be a flop, with such a huge disparity of types of government and their fiscal policies. What to do next? God only knows!

True that we cannot spend our way out of debt, but as I said no nation in history has ever “austeritied” their way to prosperity.

Conservatives are fond of saying “Roosevelt did not end the depression, the war did”. What was WW2 if not a massive government spending program? Wartime manufacturing allowed factories to re-tool and expand, setting the stage for post-war manufacturing and unprecedented prosperity. New Deal regulations on banks and businesses prevented the mistakes of the laissez faire era championed by FDR’s three predecessors.

As recent bridge collapses have demonstrated, our country badly needs infrastructure repair and improvement. A massive infrastructure program would put people to work and get our economy back on track.

They just re-issued the 5-Euro bill with enhanced security, formerly only seen on the 50-Euro bill. So at least inflation does not seem likely…

I love the conservatives on this sight reacting to people pointing out the total failure of their ideas in Europe with “how can you be so rude?” These are real people’s lives you are destroying with ignorant austerity. It failed in Europe, and it’s failing here. We are paying our debt faster than at any time in history, and IT IS NOT A GOOD THING. It is costing massive numbers of jobs, and it’s seriously damaging America’s future to have such a vast pool of unemployed and soon unemployable citizens.

I am expecting the Right Wing to go volcanic over a coming film called “Elysium.” Set in 2145 AD, the cream of the rich live off world in a totally controlled Heaven orbiting well within sight of everyone on the flat, hot, garbage heaps of a ravaged Terra. No death, disease, strife or want up there in their protected place
