    Beautifully sums the man up…

But it could have all gone wrong in 1993 – great article (with some minor errors) on him here:

George Bernard Shaw says all progress depends on unreasonable men… he was living proof and I wouldn’t have missed the ride for the world.

Please: No more of these puerile depictions of heaven. There is no heaven. Steve Jobs is dead. He did some good & some ill. He had many well-known accomplishments. My condolences to his family & friends.

Um, right about now, Jobs is thinking that either he isn’t really dead or that he was wrong about that whole “atheism” thing …

Its funny, enjoy it. Not serious in the way of Christology since you don’t go to heaven. You stay in the ground until Judgement Day and not sooner.

I see your point, Lifebyc, but with “In God We Trust” on the coinage and surrounded as I am, in Tennessee, with imbecilic churches, I would like to see us free ourselves from these myths. Hardly anyone believes in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Millions of people who can drive, procreate, educate, & vote believe in “Heaven”.

lifebyc, you of course are right, and state it correctly. Jobs was Buddhist, which of course means “open to other ideas, even if we don’t agree”- to cite the Dali Llama. It is rather appalling the closed-mindedness of so many “christians” on these pages now going apeshite because they DO hate anyone not agreeing with their narrow views.

Jobs brilliance was in getting people things they wanted, that WORKED (okay, there was a minor problem with the iphone antenna- but they fixed it) and brought people not only together, but connected them to the many worlds around us, to EXPLORE, and LEARN FROM the largest information database in the history of the world. May his legacy continue, creativity is the ultimate “cool”.

To those complaining about the “Steve Jobs Arriving at the Pearly Gates” cartoons on the grounds that Jobs was a Buddhist, lighten up. This particular trope is to editorial cartoons what the “stranded on a desert island” gag is to panel cartoonists. Just smile, and appreciate the irony. Jobs would. It has about as much religious significance as referring to hidden features in video games as “Easter Eggs.”

That being said, my own choice would have been a miles-long line of angels lined up in front of St. Peter, with a banner overhead reading “Coming Soon!” or something of that sort.
(If any cartoonist HAS used that gag and I haven’t seen it, point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.)

There are also “Buddhist heavens”, although St. Peter wouldn’t be likely to be found there…
