Build a new economy? that must be the joke! He is getting tough, he wants to cut less then 1 day of interest in the amount more he was going to spend. You want to grow this economy? How about making us the biggest tax haven in the world? FAIR TAX!!!!!!!!

Give it a rest, HQ. As posted elsewhere for the last several months, the “Fair Tax” is really a 30% tax due upon the sale of goods/services rather than on income. It will fall inordinately more on the poor rather than the wealthy. (Notice the proper use of “than,” not “then”.)

Late to the game can not do math 23+77=100 46+154=200 69+231=300 math so easy a Obama appointee can handle it. Lets talk about the games the IRS plays with then you can cry no far it is 23 or 30 or what ever. YOU PAY THE INCOME TAX NOW in everything you buy. Plus on top of that you get taxed on everything you make and the harder you work the more they take. And if you make more then what they think you should well gosh lets take more. FAIR TAX!!! I am going to keep singing it till someone come up with something better!

senor bull you want a living wage? how about the government letting you keep what you make? FAIR TAX! All the living wage bs is “I am owed this by living” The only thing in this world you are entitled to is what you make of it!

Oh and old bull if you are paying 30% to a credit card company then the problem is with you and how you spend the money you make not what the government takes from you in taxes. And late to the game this what about the “poor” is a very poor argument. The same can be said about them. plus they are not taxed under the Fair Tax. We all get a prebate back! FAIR TAX!

Harley, 23 is what percentage of 77? Here’s the formula for you:

    n% * 77 = 23

Solve for n for me, please.

hey danial you sound like the irs. I am showing the simplest inclusive tax you are taking that and making it complicated. this is not some solve for this this is set the tax as inclusive $2.30 + $7.70=$10 will be printed right on your receipt. even if it were 30 what is your point? my point is you are paying it now and then paying it again when you buy things. The fair tax puts the tax right there to see. no more irs bs if you make this you tax at this rate but if you do this you can get 3% off but if you do that we will charge you 2% more. which is simpler and better for out country. A tax code that nobody understands and fears or one that is simple and up front? In this comic I agree we need a better sand box that will bring back jobs. FAIR TAX tell me something better and simpler and I will stop. till then FAIR TAX

I would really like to know what taxing those who make over 10,000,000/year 90% is going to accomplish to pay down the debt. That would mean if you were one of the fortunate people in our free country who had worked hard and achieved a position that rewarded your efforts so heavily than you would only take home 1,000,000. While that is still a lot of money you have to ask yourself what incentive would anyone have to cross that threshold? That means business owners would purposely hold down profits so that they could only make 9,999,999.99/year which would equate to people losing jobs. I have never worked for a poor person and doubt is going to happen anytime soon.
With the exception of those who inherit large sums of money; upon birth we all have the same opportunities. We go to school and start making decisions that will impact the rest of our lives. The top richest people in this country for the most part did not come from wealthy families; they worked hard to acquire what they have and in the process have made many people besides themselves wealthy. Examples are investors in Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway.
A better solution would be to tax everyone in the country and businesses 25%, a flat tax. The distribution would be 10% going to fed, 10% going to state and 5% going to individual retirement accounts. For corporations the 5% would go directly into the whole retirement account system to be redistributed to the individual (A fail proof way to earn interest on the investments). You could eliminate the IRS and quit this non-sense of filing your taxes every year because everything would be very simple. All those that worked for the IRS are re-positioned into a government oversight service that tracks and records all spending of every single government official and government agency to make sure that it is in the best interest of the American People. There would also be a flat tax of 5% placed on everything but food that is considered a staple (dairy, grains, fruits, vegetables and etc)
Accountability would be regained in our government which would virtually eliminate all debt.

Good post wait. problem is we did a flat tax in the 80 and it was bastardized into what we have now. Fair tax is a whole new way of doing it that would be very hard to corrupt because it is all there in black in white on every receipt. Not burried in the irs books.

Okay, at least you’ve admitted that it’s a 30% sales tax. Now we can finally move on to the actual problem with it:

    Enforcement.

Okay HQ, I’ve just got to know the answer to 2 questions: 1) How much is your gross income, and 2) Are you compensated in any way by lobbyists who push the fair tax?

You are way too adamant about it to be making less than 200k or to be directly paid to sing its praises here. And if you don’t fall into either of the 2 categories above, you’re simply going against your own best interests.
