How about muddy paw marks and some dog hairs on the seats for a bit of realism? Not forgetting that
    inimitable smell of wet dog.

And the cold mornings when you’re taking your kid to school with the dog in a small pickup. And the dog farts, and you have to roll the windows down to let the odor out. It happened to me more than once. It was always funny.

My dog hops into the front seat and turns sideways so I can fasten his seat belt.

In my car, they’re not drool marks, they’re nose smears.

Good point, Sheila! Some are “good enough,” some are not – one needs to be prepared to distinguish the differences.
My Griffon dog actually prefers the back seat – it’s bigger and has a window on each side of the car.
