    Passing comics on to another generation was important to me when my son lived at home

    When he was in high school it seemed like his friends were always around and I would cover the refrigerator with a constantly changing page of comics

    Some of them would walk in and go straight to the kitchen to see what was new

    @Greg Cravens

    My Mom got me started

    There was always a cartoon on the fridge, the old one didn’t come down until she had a new one to put up

    She would personalize them too by writing in one of our names or adding her own words

    @Doctor Toon

    I have a comic on my fridge now because it reminds me of a situation with my son. I’ve been reading them since I was 5.

    I am sure that Richard Thompson is smiling…
    Greg, is there any higher compliment for a family comic artist, than to see another family comic artist showing his comic family reading the other comic artists family strip together?…If so, I dont want to know about it, because the thought of the above has me in tears as it is.
    God Bless Richard Thompson and may his travails ease through HIS grace.
    Thank you for this simple yet heartfelt tribute Greg.

    Awwwww…. This is Cool.

    I grew up reading Andy Capp and it still amuses me today.

    Just like The Buckets do!

    LOVE Toby’s face expression in the 2nd Panel.

    My folks bought the Smithsonian book of early cartoon strips (starting from the beginning). It’s a HUGE book, about the size of the original papers so that the comics are there in all their original glory. That was my favorite reading on many a day, and I’m still a fan of those cluttered old comics.

    My next duty is to expose the kids to Pogo. The satire in that old strip never ages!
