What's with the media's cult of bipartisanship? (Woman: There's too much politics in Washington. The politicians should stop being political, and work together!) Some of the worst ideas ever resulted from bipartisan cooperation. (Man: Let's invade Iraq! And spy on everyone! And send all the jobs to China!) (Woman: Yeah! Absolutely! Great!) Millions of lives might've been saved by gridlock. (Man 2: The reichstag won't approve funding for the holocaust.) (Man 3: Nothing ever gets done in Berlin!) We don't need them to get along. We need them to care about us. (Man 4: Even one party would be fine. Or one politician...)
“Once again the founding fathers are proven to be geniuses. I have repeatedly said how what the left cause “obstructionism” is built into the constitution for a reason.”-I don’t think anyone on these boards has called for the elimination of checks and balances, so that’s kind of a straw man.
And it does NOT mean that checks and balances cannot be abused, i.e. used for obstructionism. Or is it your belief that because of hatred of who was elected president, that filibustering virtually every appointment below cabinet level and virtually every judicial appointment does NOT constitute obstructionism?
Do you think that if that had happened during the early days of the Constitution, that the Founding Fathers might have re-thought that part?
