Ya Ted, we are all thinking about how rough it is to be a terrorist these days. Boo Hoo!

    Excellent comment. I completely agree.

If we were not taking the necessary steps, the terrorists would impose Sharia Law, and Sharia demands that the qadi (judge) must have proof and evidence before finding the accused guilty.

We are at war, and, obviously, all laws and the Constitution must be suspended for the duration. If our Commander-in-Chief’s hands were tied by any laws or the Constitution, he would be unable to stop the terrorists. We can have no trials, no proof, no evidence. The POTUS must be able to arrest and subject to ‘enhanced interrogation’ or kill anyone, anywhere, any time. The POTUS and the POTUS alone must have the right to decide who is a terrorist, and even the most limited limitation on his power to do that would guarantee the terrorists their victory.

And, to find the terrorists before they can overrun the US, the POTUS must know everything about everyone everywhere 24/7. No one who isn’t guilty of something has the slightest objection to being watched 24/7. The POTUS is watching us and protecting us as we sleep (and when we’re awake). And every decent patriot absolutely agrees, strongly supports, and piously prays for the NSA to see all, know all, and deliver their knowledge to the POTUS to keep us all safe from the terrorists.

My Rall foolishly thinks the US should be a nation of laws, not a nation where the authorities can arrest and subject to ‘enhanced interrogation’ or kill anyone, anywhere, any time, for any reason or for no reason. But you and I know that’s completely wrong. For the duration of the war, our authorities must have unrestricted power to do whatever they deem necessary to keep us safe.

Even if they need to kill us all, if that’s what it takes to keep us safe, every patriot will support them in all their actions..

The US hasn’t killed one single terrorist with drones.
    1. By definition, every single victim was innocent because: no trial. No trial, no conviction, no guilt. That’s US law.
    2. Even the US admits these targets are “militants.” Militants who oppose the governments of Yemen, Pakistan, etc. Not people coming to the US. Not terrorists. Just political opponents of US client states.
    3. 98% of all drone victims in Pakistan are civilian bystanders.

    A modified Haiku:

    Presents under tree
    Lofty drone hunts for victims
    Smooch break under mistletoe
    Foo Foo drink on beach

I believe panel 3 is a depiction of the inhumane treatment by American jailers at the Abu Griab (not sure of the spelling) prison in Iraq, almost 10 years ago. In what way is it relevant now, and for this current administration? Obama has been trying to close Gitmo (something the military wants) but has been blocked by Congress.

    Thanks for your reply.
We of course disagree, but that’s what makes our country great.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

why do apologists for the obama regime even bother to read ted rall? they must know they will get no sympathy here!
Christmas is the most toxic hoiliday on the capitalist calendar. brainwashing kids into becoming greedy, self-obsessed materialists so they can fit right in as adults. “in hell, every day is christmas!”

It isn’t Christmas that teaches kids to be materialistic, it’s how the adults behave during the Christmas season. Children learn from their parents’ behavior, not their words.

Using the term “militant” becomes shorthand for “somebody who needs to be killed”, much like when we went into Mexico in the early 20th Century. The people we didn’t like were called “bandits,” so it was okay to simply hunt them down and kill them.

More Christians have been killed in the Middle East then terrorists it seems, and no one talks or draws about it.
