Yes make sure it isn’t a Roman/Napoleon/Nazi salute coming through.

American backed dictatorship? Really? Not us, for sure?

So it seems to point to the idea that the new pope supports the right wing death squads. And the last pope was a Nazi youth. I sense a pattern here. Business as usual, I guess the Vatican bank will continue to launder drug money.

When real banks launder drug money we give them a huge fine, the church just charges the regular interest.

Don’t look for balance from Ted. This from the BBC:
A few years ago, the head of a well-known Argentine human rights organisation denounced Cardinal Bergoglio for having had close ties with the country’s last military government (1976-1983).
Horacio Verbitsky, director of the Centre for Social and Legal Studies, published a newspaper article alleging that in 1976 Cardinal Bergoglio had “handed over” two local priests to the military, which went on to torture them. Both were freed months later.
Cardinal Bergoglio denies this, insisting instead that he met with two former Argentine military leaders to plead for the release of both priests.
Although earlier this year a judicial ruling for the first time called into question the role of the Catholic Church during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Cardinal Bergoglio has never been formally linked to any of the numerous human rights cases currently under way.

Can you provide a citation for this quote, please?

@Radish
We really have to give Cardinal Ratzinger an out on being in the Hitler Youth. It was not a choice to join or not. As for ’he could have said no" yes he could. It is however much easier to say so than do so.

The U.S. didn’t back the dictatorship, but that doesn’t stop good ol’ Ted from saying it. I thought revolution was good? Maybe it’s just revolution against capitalism and mom and pop is what’s good.

@Ms. Ima
No? They just sent money, guns, advisors etc.

Ima, as usual, you don’t have a leg to stand on. In October, 1976, Secretary of State Kissinger gave full support to the military junta and urged them to hurry up and finish their repressive actions before the US Congress cut military aid.

No proof, Ted. There are conflicting reports and the accusations are coming from left-wingers who expect everyone to scream instead of whisper as they fight injustice. Others cite him for having smuggled people out of the country, hidden others and negotiated behind the scenes on behalf of yet others.
But I realize in your world, only screamers and revolutionaries can be trusted, and it’s better to promote a lie than to seek the truth. You and McCoy and Catalino make a nice grouping.

@ghostkeeper
Well my point is they didn’t have to pick someone with a hitler youth background, or someone with a background of giving into fascists in Argentina. Don’t forget the ‘Nazi’ pope during WWII. I’m just pointing out that what looks normal to the church looks fascist to me.

If I’m not mistaken Pope Benedict (aka. Cardinal Ratzinger) was in the Hitler Youth. I can’t remember Ted mentioning that fact…

This is a lie and it is a WHOPPER!!!

Of course, to Liberals, all lies are fair game, especially if you hate the Church.
