One of Obama’s appointees voted for Citizens United.
    I see your point, though.

States’ rights, judicial restraint, personal liberty, fair elections. Which of these Republican credos does anyone think they still believe in? And while we are at it, the 2nd Amendment allows guns for States’ militias, not for any wack job from Tulsa.

Uh, which of Obama’s appointees are you referring to in this 5-4 decision?

Some day (in the not-too-distant future, I hope), this debate will eventually be laid to rest. Brighter minds than yours and mine have kicked this around for decades (centuries?).
I tend to side with those who point out that the Bill of Rights were individual rights, and belong to “the People.” After all, the amendment states specifically: “… the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Taken alongside the fact that the “militia” at that time were ordinary citizens, many of whom were simple farmers, it was necessary that they had firearms at home and ready to engage an enemy should the need arise.
The “wack job” (regardless of where he’s from) obviously should be denied access.
