The Trump press office denied me media credentials to the The Donald’s Phoenix rally speech. What a hoot. Trump says he can take on Kim Jong Un, but he can’t take cartoons. Here’s what his outfit sent me:
“From: ‘Donald J. Trump Press Office’ <pressoffice@donaldtrump.com>Reply-To: ‘pressoffice@donaldtrump.com’ <pressoffice@donaldtrump.com>Date: Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 10:03 PM To: ‘Benson, Steve’ <steve.benson@arizonarepublic.com>Cc: ‘pressoffice@donaldtrump.com’ <pressoffice@donaldtrump.com>Subject: Your Media Credentials Have Been Denied
“Hello Steve,
“If you are receiving this email, we are unable to credential you for the event in Phoenix, AZ. Any name that does not appear on our list, will not be permitted to enter as credentialed media.
“Please note that there are additional security measures now in place and all protocols must be followed accordingly.
“If you have any questions or concerns, please email pressoffice@donaldtrump.com.
“To view your updated media request status please visit: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/rallies/media-request-status/530eac1f79b3485590a36f5d499c666a/”
The “pressreader” reported the rejection as follows:
“Drawn-out Denial for Steve Benson
“Steve Benson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial carence and a respected presence at The Arizona Republic. But that, and an email, still could not get him a credential into the Trump campaign stop. Benson was told in an email Sunday from the campaign press office that his credential request had been denied.“’Any name that does not appear on our list, will not be permitted to enter as credentialed media,’ the email said. The misplaced comma was in the email. Benson has good company.
“Also denied credentials were KPHO-TV’s Morgan Loew and Gilbert Zermeno. The reporter and cameraman have long teamed up to do investigations for Phoenix’s CBS affiliate. Zermeno, on Facebook, posted: ‘Guess I’ll be looking for a scalper.’”
