The American Control Act is what is going to harm our children.

    Jeffy,

You are repeating tea party talking points, which are mostly lies. There is plenty about ACA that should be criticized and fixed. Take the time to separate truth from the fictions you have just spit out.
It looks to me like you hate Obama and will cling to anything that justifies your hate, even lies.

As has oft been said, if you don’t like Obamacare, come up with a more valuable alternative. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Anyone can criticize, but we’re paying the criticizers $150K per year, plus more benefits than you’d care to count, to do nothing else. Opposition without a plan for meaningful improvement is just noise, and I, for one, am really tired of noise.

Write your “representatives”, and demand that they do the jobs they are so richly rewarded for, so far, not doing.

Or you could just continue to write to GoComics about how much you hate. They may very well lead to the same conclusions, but you won’t know unless you try.

" The American Control Act is what is going to harm our children…."
    .
    Could you explain how?
Other wealthy nations report infant mortality rates 1/3 to 1/2 as high as the U.S. So how is going to a system more like these countries going to harm children?
Something as important as neo-natal mortality, you should be more certain of your facts.

Wrong once again. Obama is taking responsibility and is committing the resources to correct the technical bugs.

No such thing as free health care. What the poor have now is second rate and inefficient/expensive health care.

“What the poor have now is second rate and inefficient/expensive health care.”

True. And here’s why the current system will never address this: Let’s assume that I want $100 for a service I provide. If I bill $100, insurance will want to pay me $30. If I bill $200, insurance may pay me $80. So that’s what I do, and that’s what they do.

It is illegal for me to charge more for a person with insurance for the same procedure that I perform for one who is without insurance. Understandable. The flip side: I am not allowed to charge less if the person does not have insurance.

Here’s the kicker: even though insurance only pays $80, I cannot bill an uninsured person $80. I have to bill that person the same thing I BILL insurance: $200. As a result, the uninsured person has to pay a significantly higher bill than the person who has insurance, and that’s why people who are uninsured are guaranteed to be sicker for longer.

Again, come up with a better solution, and most of us will go along with it. Sit in the corner and make fun…..what’s the point? You’re not helping.

With compliments to Player, I just add this.
The cartoon is divisive and drives a wedge between neighbors who might otherwise talk calmly in searching for a solution. The baby isn’t Obamacare, it is Obama himself, and the serpent are those who will not even support ideas first put forth by Republicans because Obama resurrected them. Mr. Obama was not the seasoned politician our nation needed when he became President, but we allowed the media and the money given to the DNC decide who our choices would be and Mr. Obama does speak well. He’s not Clinton or Reagan, but he talked a talk that didn’t walk.
This is not entirely his fault since from the moment he was elected an unprecedented level of impediments gathered and united against anything he proposed. Conservatives refuse to accept this, but the ACA was based on the plan Romney produced in Mass. The Immigration reform act was presented first by Mr. Bush and Mr. Rubio. Guns were permitted to be carried in National Forests, and I can go on. Many liberals have been turned off by his many right of center proposals, and only the immoderate and often extreme positions of the conservative extremists have kept independents and liberals as involved as they are.
As a politician, Mr. Obama was a baby, not ready for a presidency… but the GOP has allowed some poisonous attitudes to make people forget the many good things they have done in the past, and the actions of the GOP in the states have made that perception worse. And this poison is not a GOP monopoly as there are plenty of liberal extremists willing to use the tactics of division to, as Mr. Washington said, “divide and weaken our nation.” We need an anti venom.
    Respectfully,
    C.

This is a new low, even for Steve Benson.
How short are the memories of Dems.
Harry Reid on a question on helping one child with cancer at the NIH.
“W-W-W-Why….WHY would I want to do THAT???”

I fear we are destined to disagree, Ansonia, and on many issues. You fear my vision of a better America, though I feel myself to be not far left of center, and I certainly fear the visions presented by the extreme right.

1st – That was Harry Reid who said that when asked why he wouldn’t help fund the NIH to help a child with cancer.
2nd – BECAUSE of Obamacare, more people are being cancelled by their insurance companies because it doesn’t comply with Obamacare than there are people that are even able to sign UP for Obamacare. If you call that help, keep away!

“So Americans need to be forced to purchase overpriced crap called insurance.”

Not my point at all. Never has been. Single payer is the only answer. With so many currently-running systems to analyze each individual advantage and disadvantage, American ingenuity has the capacity to provide much better care for less.
