Yah, this is real big business…But you have to promise to never clean the uniform or take a bath, then you can snuggle up to people to take photos with, for tons of money…

In Superman #3 (Winter, 1939-40), a con man licensed Superman for commerical use. Superman was very new and most people (in the comics) didn’t believe he was real, so the guy figured he could make some easy money by claiming to be Superman’s manager. But the con man goes to the Daily Planet to offer an exclusive deal on all Superman news and he’s introduced to Clark Kent. Oops! Lois Lane exposes the con man and the actor he hired to play Superman — she demonstrates that she can lift a heavy desk just as easily as he can, since it’s really made of cardboard (not to mention that she’d already met Superman personally). Naturally this puts her in danger, and of course the real Superman shows up to save the day.
