Destroying [degrading] a battalion does not mean elements cannot reform and renew the fight. Apparently that is happening in Northern Gaza. Degrading Command and Control elements of Hamas should have been the objective from the onset. If they are the ones still intact then there was a failure in intelligence, operations, or both. The total dismantling of Hamas will be difficult to achieve no matter what the strategy. That alone cannot be the sole objective for Israel. They have destroyed over 60% of the dwellings in Gaza and an even greater amount of its infrastructure, not to mention all the collateral deaths and injuries. So what will Israel do about this in terms of reparations?

I could not find where he said that. He did indicate two chemical signatures that indicate the PRESENCE of life. Three-hundred conditions for life? Depends if you are a lumper or a splitter.

Over 99.99% of all species that ever existed on earth are extinct. Will humans beat those odds? Doubt it.

It must have been good, but all I got were bleeps ( and a lot of them). I wasn’t able to read his lips.

‘Human shields’ ….. Don’t you think the Palestinians would get out of Gaza if Israel or Egypt would let them out? They are trapped in there with HAMAS, shield or not. Trapped in a near stone-age environment; low on food, water, and shelter. Does anyone know what Israel’s end game is?

The semantics are important with regard to the claim about intelligence offerings. The statement could just as easily suggest that the US would assist in gathering important and very specific intelligence to aid the IDF towards using surgical strikes on HAMAS if Israel does not try to blow through Rafah.

If they were like these cicadas, they would go underground and we wouldn’t hear anything from them for 13 to 17 years. Wouldn’t that be grand!

“a truly better solution” ………. Something that the right wing has no inkling of. All they do is flap their gums in derision of difficult decisions just for the purpose of political gain. Compounding this is the fact that the derision benefits the worst possible Presidential candidate in our Nation’s history – Don the Con. Just to anticipate a Right Wing slight, the ‘Con’ does not mean ‘Constitution’ since that is the document the Con has a lot of contempt for unless he can use it for his own gain.

‘surgical strike weapons’ …….. A 2000 lb bomb or even a 500 lb bomb dropped in a highly urban environment like Gaza is not really surgical even if it has a JDAM guidance kit. The blast radius can be a quarter mile with the big bomb with a kill radius of 100 yards. That would kill everybody within a subdivision of about 50 medium-sized houses with small yards and damage and injure 4 times that. On the other hand, hellfire missiles fired from drones have nowhere near this collateral potential (kill radius= about 50 feet). Those are surgical weapons.

I am totally perplexed by the Trump phenomenon. I can understand that a portion of the populace could fall for the shtick, but to have more than his MAGA base considering voting for him after all the horribleness he instigated after he lost the last election is beyond the pale. The word has to be gotten out better that he is an existential threat to our Democracy and offers no real alternative solution to any economic, social, or diplomatic problem we currently have.
