Yeah, as it turned out – he didn’t concede.

He did, at the current count, lose /forty-five/ court cases, though. And Georgia.

    Three different times, so far.

“H1N1 was originally known as the Spanish Flu when it infected the United States in 1918, causing 675,000 deaths”

Unfortunately, this is straight-up not true. It wasn’t labelled the Spanish Flu until nearly two years /after/ it infected the US – because the 1918 ‘Spanish Flu’ actually started in 1916, and it started in /Kansas/. It was then /exported/ to Europe, and eventually the rest of the world, by US troops fighting in WWI.

Spain – and this is important – was not involved in WWI. America had Woodrow Wilson, a fascist before fascism had a /name/, in office and the Sedition Acts were being strongly enforced. They successfully hid the fact that they were exporting pandemic vectors to the Western Front. When French and British troops started spreading the disease, their governments (on a war footing) /also/ kept it an official secret.

Once the pandemic reached Spain – which was /not/ at war – they had no reason to try to pretend it wasn’t happening, so they were the first place where the pandemic made it past the censors – and thus, it was named the ‘Spanish Flu’.

The USA played the same role in 2018 that China played in 2020, only much, /much/ worse.

Dayum. From December, this one is a bullseye.

I would read it as “GenX girl is smart enough to have worked out how to use Boomer gender prejudices to make it Mike’s problem.”

No, this isn’t a fantasy – this is Boopsie actually working on a movie job, it’s really happening to her.

I mean, no – no-one believed that – but also, no – no, he didn’t.

Re Jeffiekins: dude. The false equivalences here are breathtaking. You seem to be trying to pretend that the Trump regime incompetence is in some way comparable to (checks notes) Republican scorched-earth obstructionism because a /Black/ man got into the /White/ House – and then trying to blame /Obama/ because the far white right lost their goshdarn minds?

One of these things is not like the other, and if Sesame Street understands reality better than you do, you might want to rethink your life choices.

Wow. Panel 3, Trudeau absolutely called it (I’m writing from December 2020)

Regarding “Where did she get the axe?”

That would be ‘from hammerspace’. This is a legit trope, originally from japanime, developed to explain why very scantily-clad 14-year old school girls can suddenly produce a four-foot long war hammer whenever they need to LART a bad guy.

Brought to you by the same school of post-ironic narrative construction that also developed ‘plot holes’ – literal wormholes that characters could use to get from one frame of a metanarrative to another frame, while commenting about how ridiculous it is to move the story along using plot holes.

Ahh, and entire thread of privileged asshats. How nice.

And let him keep his helmet on.

I gotta say … the strip where we finally saw BD’s hair was a major emotional hit.

But still didn’t hit as hard as the one where we found out why BD wore his helmets for over 30 years (i.e. childhood trauma from his mother)
