   Legalizing pot is so unpopular with the tobacco and alcohol industries because fine quality products can be more easily and discretely made at home with far less overhead. Plus sold/traded in small markets (e.g. neighbors, friends), hence much more difficult to enforce any regulation restrictions. Conversely, most wines, liquors and tobacco take more effort, equipment and land/space to produce. It’s easier for the average American, even alcoholics and cigarette smokers, to purchase vs. produce their own but large conglomerates to do so while making a huge profit.

   When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine (or codeine) – webmd.com. Smoking, whatever the substance, shares many techniques found in yoga, often considered a form of exercise – deep breathing, thinking calming thoughts, minimizing movement, etc. Hence the reason cigarette smokers find nicotine patches/pills less effective of “kicking the habit”. Likewise, simple intake of THC and/or other ‘active’ ingredients isn’t viewed as attractive to pot users compared to smoking/eating cannibus. To dismiss or belittle the truly psychological, even psychiatric component is naive at best.

   Personally, I can’t even be around ‘second hand’ pot smoke. The first and only time I was, I had a panic attack and seizure (I have epilepsy) and was taken to a local hospital via EMS. My peers know not to smoke anything around me, doesn’t put a damper of festivities, we just separate the smokers from the non-smoker; most people don’t smoke anyway.

   Because pot isn’t regulated in most US states, it is still a gateway drug among pushers. I know crack and other nefarious chemicals were mixed into pot starting in the ’80’s onward, especially in inner-cities, hence the crack epidemic (which was conveniently ignored to productively eradicate compared to the current opioid crisis , but I digress).
