Nice ideas, but I’m having trouble facing up to the possible end of this strip. I’m about to turn 70, and Gasoline Alley has been part of my life for all of that time. So much of the America I grew up with has faded away.
I’ve been fearing that would happen. So many of my cozy and familiar American icons have fallen by the wayside, that I really would hate to let go of this one. Can anyone suggest how G.A. might be saved?
Do any of you readers have videotapes of Frank Nelson doing commercials for a laundry detergent (school for newlyweds) or McDonald’s? Those were his last significant works.
I am somewhat bewildered by your comment. If a cartoonist needs 2 months off, why not just draw the strips ahead of time? I would think Scancarelli could draw several strips per day and therefore get ahead of schedule. Or am I incorrect in assuming that?
