I think using the word “rape” is an insult to the victims of sexual assault, even though I strongly agree that this shouldn’t be forced on women. The wand is used in fertility clinics, especially to look at ovaries, and it is less uncomfortable than a speculum. I’ve loved Doonesbury since I was a kid, but I don’t like seeing the word “rape” used for anything else.
I love Doonesbury, and I think this is a great story line, but I think calling this “rape” goes too far and is an insult to victims of sexual assault.
