It feels like Mr. Scancarelli went on a vacation and left a new assistant in charge with a book of jokes from the 1950s and said “Just use this until I get back.” As greatful as I am to at least have a story that involves someone from the Wallet family, this isn’t even a story, but just one bad obnoxious pun after another. One week is tolerable, but it’s been going on for a month now. I guess if I was the one writing it, I may not be so critical. I’m sure it isn’t easy, so I’ll keep reading. Hope I didn’t offend anyone.

Hector, I don’t mean to be corrective, but I’m pretty sure Ada was named Ada because she was born on August 8, 1988 (8/8/88). Wouldn’t that make her 22 rather than 25?

I’m still not clear on whether Cashmere was born a Wallet or married to one. I’d think she would have had to be married to a Wallet if Walt is a direct descendant from her (but I haven’t noticed a ring on her finger yet).

Is Miss Melba still the mayor? I’m guessing after tomorrow, the story will pick back up with the Pye’s in the bus about to be hit with a missile, or maybe back to Rover and Hoogie (Rover was telling her about something new he invented). But then, it may be time to start up a Christmas story. It’s all good to me. Happy Thanksgiving!

@arye: I’ve been wondering about Gretchen also. So many Wallet characters to choose from, yet so few used.

@ORteka: I thought Beetle Bailey was pretty much allergic to work too, unlike his sister Lois Flagstone.

I still think he’ll end up in the graveyard. Something spooky HAS to happen this close to Halloween. And yeah, the artwork is really good. Even better in the black-and-white version. Good job to Mr. Scancarelli on panel two.

Maybe he’ll keep driving around until he gets to the graveyard on Halloween and find Rufus in a grave like Gertie did last year.

I thought Walt IS Skeezix’s uncle, or so they found out following Phyllis’ passing when it was revealed that she was his biological mother’s sister, which would make Walt his uncle by marriage.

I’m curious about the letter now too. Glad y’all mentioned that or I would’ve missed that as being a clue to the new story. Reading the comments here really are helpful and as enjoyable as reading the comic. Thanks group!

Is that Becky (the same mule from like 30 years ago)? How long do mules live? They had a baby mule along side her, with a devil-pointed tail back in the late 70s/early 80s. Guess he went to the glue factory. Everyone else turns the hands of time, but good ol’ Rufus and Joel never change. Nice to have them around.

Slim should bring his grandson, Boog, over there. Doesn’t he communicate with animals? He could get the menagerie back in place.
