ne7minder55’s high school buddies sound like a right pair of sociopaths. Toggle is very nice indeed, but Jeff is funnier.

excuse me, that’s “Rocker Tommy Lee”. I’m sure ‘rocker’ comes first on his (rocking) birth certificate

it’s too bad Obama isn’t a socialist. The USA has had far too much of the wrong kind of socialism for far too long (the kind that takes from the poor and gives to the rich – when even the rich start complaining about it, it’s really gone too far!). You could do with a bit of the other kind.

this war has been an absolute shocker – it’s amazing Trudeau can manage a wry smile at all. It’s far worse for the Iraqis, but I’m steeling myself for another wave of loser self-pity, like the one that came after Vietnam. Just as the Vietnamese were near invisible then, so will the Iraqis be now as the US gives itself a good post-stuff-up cuddle.

Saddam Hussein was never an Islamist. The invasion was always a crock – as can be seen by the rollout of spurious reasons – first it was all about the WMDs, then we were all supposed to forget that and think it was about a sudden desire to topple nasty governments (well, one), then it was about establishing democracy. The Iraqis I know all think Saddam was horrible and that things were better when he was around. Still, it gives Americans another defeat to be narcissistic about in case they run out of Vietnam

I love the strip, but it’s part of the whole ‘ooh, look how we suffered’ whining that has played so well in the USA since Vietnam. I thought the winners were supposed to write the histories, but both Vietnam and Iraq are mainly commemorated by the aggressors licking their wounds in accounts in which the victims are either shadowy scary figures or invisible.

Hi Bassrox,It’s not offensive to this Christian. It is absurdly simplistic, as is Creation ‘science’

why on earth is Jenny McCarthy’s opinion on a matter of epidemiology important in the first place? The real harm to preventative health care comes in a culture that looks to celebs for scientific information. Chikuku should get on well with all the ‘gun-facts’ dudes.

Gee Orion, your comparison of Ted Kennedy’s car and your .45 has overwhelmed all other statistics and common sense and proved that letting anyone carry any gun they like is worth the extra deaths. Not. I’m from a country in which only criminals and the police carry guns (well, and hunters too) and I like it fine. On the one hand, I find the issue cheering - it reminds me that Australia gets this one right, but on the other hand it’s a shame that the USA, a country that is admirable in many ways, puts up with this gun-related stupidity. Then again, I usually skip the comments.
