   The vast majority of all the bees and ants that have ever lived have left no direct descendants. Within your person this is also true of your cells. Multiplication without constraint is for cancer cells. Richard Dawkins may claim in fact that it is the hive that is the entity that produces other hives as progeny. On a sideline, the maternal instinct may include a simple desire to hold a baby - any baby. This helps the species to survive even after the adults concerned are sterile. Maybe the paternal instinct is a myth. All males have travelling salesmen in their ancestry.

   A bit late for yesterday. Inner-city immigration somehow jars. I could settle for just inner-city migration. Otherwise we may need to know about the details of the matching emigration. In a large nation with controls there might need to be a department of intra-migration. Naturally it follows in this theme that some of the migrants are bed bugs.Do they have to have papers? Or perhaps they have one overarching blanket cover authority being a department of integration.

   Most of my acquaintance would look sideways and puzzled if you asked them do they “carry into Starbucks.” It is always tempting to relate the discussion here to the murder rate where there is an active topic of “carrying”. I know people who do just that. I am sure the figures for “national” murder rates are available at a computer near you. Doonesbury does get syndicated outside the USA, but this week it might have to be explained in some countries, where “carrying” is neither a hot nor a cool topic. I wonder if anyone in the regulars here might be sensitive about that.
