If you would like to ‘favorite’ the strip, (and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star at the lower right corner of the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.”
Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word.

You know, Nat has awfully good posture for a shamus. Even his leaning is nice & straight.

Now we’re seeing some of the Dreamscape processes before our very eyes: the materialization of the alley brick wall….
While Nat pauses to think, so I suspect, does Honorable Master, trying to figure out how to unscramble this storyline in a satisfying way….

Sisyphos is correct. ‘Shemale’ was once simply a variant of ‘female’. Long before so called modern surgery and the repercussions thereof…

Based on Bustard’s comment herein, I think we must presume he speaks and sounds very much like the late Mr. Bogart.

Just for the record, having either Dinah or Dru ‘paw me’ would not be conducive to productive thought process. Not that I would mind.

I have to admit, now that my attention’s been called to it, that Honourable Master does seem to be slipping a bit in the drawing of hands and fingers. There hasn’t been much in the last week to compare with, but the fingers did seem better in the examples available.

As mentioned yesterday, hands are hard to draw; but I seem to remember well-drawn digits in the past - not that my memory’s anything to brag about! Maybe it’s a momentary lapse for good reason.

‘Shemale’ - Early american slang for a feisty gal’ from the same stable as ‘Shamus’ I guess. The modern usage apears to have passed Revered Master by. Bless.

@ Burgundy2, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

My dear old Da is 87, practically blind from macular degeneration and practically deaf from a combination of age, and WWII. He can no longer clearly see the faces of his nearest and dearest, nor read, nor watch TV. He can only barely hear the voices of those he loves, or his beloved music, and is slowly but surely being cut off from all those things that make life meaningful. While he is not in pain, he no longer has access to the things in life that he values most, and which gave him so much pleasure. As much as I love him, and as much as I would miss him, I find myself wishing that some time while he is sleeping in his chair, the angels would slip away with him. It would be so much kinder for all concerned.

Since Nonny liquified all the bullets in Nat’s .38 earlier, does he figure liquified bullets will still get the job done? Or does he have another .38 with solid bullets in his pocket? Someone in his line of work may be carrying more than one gun, but it does get to be heavy after a while.

Burgundy, obviously you were fortunate in your father. And I’m betting your father felt he was fortunate in his daughter. You have had an enviable role model before you, both in his living and his leaving. Take good care of yourself while you grieve, and make sure you are surrounded by those who will comfort and support you.

Fairportfan, excellent news. Continued good wishes for continued improvement.

Burgundy, as one who has recently walked in “those” shoes; We’d ‘lost’ Mom first, then Dad six months later. (The Doctors said “It was ‘medical’, his heart gave out - but we kids KNEW it was because he didn’t have Mom there to keep his blood pressure up!)

    Dad hasn’t left you!

One day in the near future, you’ll be in a conversation, “the kids” will do something totally ‘stupid’ - and you’ll say something about it. — Then pause, because you’ll remember hearing THAT same phrase before… when YOU did (nearly) the same thing! And you’ll remember Dads twinkle in his eye as he gets to rib his precious child.

I hear _MY_ “Dad’s” voice when I call home to talk to the wife, and get my answering machine!!!

My DAUGHTERS call here for the SAME thing! (Hi, Dad; just checking in… wanted to hear “the voice and touch base”. - Luv-ya!-Bye!)

I believe whole-heartedly, “Dads” and “Moms” never leave us, their best parts are tucked deeply away in our hearts forever.

I bid you peace and fond memories of Dad and you forever.

    Stepping up on the soapbox:
I suspect if we want good hand drawings Mr. McEldowney will need more time to produce these pages. If a hand is critical to the story line I’m sure he’ll give it the attention deserved, but I’m addicted. I’d rather have a daily Pib fix rather than wait for glamorous metacarpals and phalanges.
Now stepping down from the soapbox.

    Morning,
Just a heads-up for those who have run across this problem with comments not being visible.

For what ever the cause, I lost comments from GOCOMICS yesterday and did a full antivirus, registry check and restore to no avail, this morning I was looking through the Internet Explorer Toolbar and under Tools activated the ”Compatibility View”.

I don’t know why, but MySpace.com is the only new and different application I was in yesterday.

Addressing the details of the drawing - especially hands - in the strip recently- - - -

I did much research; which entailed going back and reading bits of Pibgorn way back to the beginning. Very difficult work! - and hard to tear myself away to meet duties in RL.

The Master has often drawn hands without detail - as sort of mittens - like Pibby today, but lost no expressiveness in doing so. Likewise he has in the past drawn hands in the manner of Dru’s today and yesterday.

See I told ya! Lotsa research! Very strenuous, checking lotsa detail of lotsa Pibgorn.

    My conclusion is that the drawing the last month or so is perhaps not as precise as in most of the past strips. However, one must remember, The Honorable master has started a new story arc, and has to think about plot and such; - also changed to a larger format, which in the beginning might be challenging;

But to be honest - I truly dont give a flying Flipper!

For me it is still the best webcomic with consistantly the best art.

And thats my story and Im sticking to it!

    the best to all

I don’t particularly object if Brooke wishes to add drags and trannies to the dramatis personae, but I do hope that in such a case Dru and Pib are allowed to remain their traditional, female, naturally buxom selves.

    Re: Missing Comments
I also had problems with seeing the comments in IE8. I sent gocomics and email, then added my tag: “Where are the comments?” After remembering the Compatibility View option, I selected it and everything came back. So I added “Compatibility View” to the tages to give those who still can’t see the comments a clue to fix the problem.

@sarge, I’ve often seen two- or three-year-olds playing who stop every fifteen or twenty minutes to go over and pat Mom on the knee, and then go back to playing. They just need that reassurance that Mom is still there. I didn’t realize that older kids, like your daughters, did the same sort of thing…

Burgundy - I haven’t had time to read all the postings due to RL commitments, but I understand that you’ve lost your father recently, and for that, you have my prayers for you and your family. As has been beautifully expressed before, keep yourself surrounded by those that love you and support you during this time.

Fairport - Who says there’s no such thing as good news. My prayers to Kate for her continued revcovery.

It seems to me I’ve heard at least a couple of Old Time Radio gumshoes use the term she-male usually in reference to a bawdy female. Usually one lacking the genteel characteristics of a lady.

Three cheers and a tigers’ tail to whoever said that Nat was the one that still had at least a tenuous grip on reality and noticed that the other two were slipping fast into their alternate personas. The question I have is now that we know that Nat seems to have some of his faculties, will he aid or hinder the two lovely ladies.

As for the hand issue, depending on where the story is focused, I don’t usually pay attention to the hands unless they are the focal point of the story.

I’ve had problems off and on viewing the comments when I view the first page at start up, around 0115et. Doesn’t happen every day, doesn’t matter IE7, IE8 or Firefox. Been happening for months. I found that if I clicked forward to the sketch and then back to Pib the comments would appear. That always works for me.
PS: IE8 compatability view. If you look under tools and click compatability view; when the dialogue box comes up you can set it to view all websites in CV
