I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.” Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word. Dude, I’m already looking forward to Friday’s cliffhanger! I’m guessing Dinah will enter this scene and inform Nonna under no uncertain terms will she sit idly by while Nonna works that .38…
@chinawanderer, you need to read the Borgia Cantus arc. The Old Wolf’s tribute page will give you an overview (see the boilerplate, post 1), but it you have patience and willingness to alter the dates in the following link, you can read the arc for yourself (link is to the first strip of the arc):
http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/pib/2003/pib030811.gif
Good Grief! I dozed off just before the witching hour and just reawakened! Must have been more tired than I thought!
Well, it was Nat with the .38. And now it’s Pib-Nonny with the .38, in a very direct solution to the problem of “what to do when the gumshoe points his roscoe in your face” (kids, do not try this at home)!
In the sketch, Pib’s left arm is missing on panel 4. You can still see her fingers wrapped around the top of Nat’s gun, but the rest of her arm is gone. Corrected in the final drawing.
Nat seems more than just a little discombobulated by this turn of events. (–You know, it’s very hard to talk descriptively about this page and at the same time keep one’s remarks family-friendly?) Pib-Nonny is, shall we say, not just “taking things into her own hands,” and Nat is at a loss. What comes next? Or, who…. Hmm, am I still family-friendly?
Yes, BikeNBoatN and Radical-Knight, Pib in panel 3 with her mouth uncharacteristically wide open [side-to-side] does look rather like Lena, whose mouth normally seems wider than Pib’s….
9CWL: Little do Juliette and Elliot know how significant the conversation between Thorax and “that little man” might be! They are us, metaphorically, all unaware as the universe careens along a questionable path!
Pib-Nonny is more at heart a seductress than Pib-Pibgorn (though Pib’s recent experiences with Nat show that her education has progressed enormously) and so more ready for this course of action than Pib-as-herself would be. I wonder if Nonny Vogelsang has played this game before?
Hey, bmonk, Roger bnTotOo and anyone else who deals with period music/chant on a regular basis might (stressed for a reason!) get a kick out of today’s Working Daze over on Brand X:
http://comics.com/working_daze/
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.

As Ethel Merman (speaking as Annie Oakley) once remarked:
“Oh, you can’t get a man with a gun!
With a gun, with a gun,
No you can’t get a man with a gun!”
Well…yes, you can, apparently…

Shouldn’t Pib being appearing to Nat as the woman who came into his office at the start of this story arc, not as this Nonny chick?

Well, I’m totally dumbfounded. That’s not the gun Bustard had in Borgia Cantus. What’s the deal?
[EDIT] - That’s awfully brave of Nonny. But then Pib isn’t a demon and Bustard’s gun has bullets that are only effective on demons. Right?

First Dru, then Pib, then Dinah, then Nonny. That’s one lucky Bustard.
Must be his dream, and a very soggy one by now, considering all the jollies he’s been getting.
Pardon me while I shift the sofa into “Recline,” the better to watch as Hon. Master pushes the envelope pretty durn far… .

Considering what the cleaning fluid smells like when you clean a gun, that has GOT to taste absolutely awful.
