Great, now Roger is in for it. Thanks to Druzilla.

He’s what - fifteen?
And a virgin?
Perhaps a “fate worse than death” won’t seem that way to him…

Wait’ll they get a good look at each other. Can’t wait to see the look of shocked recognition on Roger’s and Lena’s faces…
…or whatever surprises Brooke has in store for us!

I thought Roger got nailed in mid-air by Dru a couple of months ago?
Something like–
Pib: Oh Dru! He’s only a boy…
Dru: This is how he becomes a man.
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
WHAT is WRONG with that guy’s HEAD?

Jack, that was when we went into that talkshow interlude, afterward Roger asked why she didn’t ravish him and Henmelyn (sp*?) was mentioned…

Dru didn’t ravish Roger as she had planned. She got him into the dream sequence, but was sidetracked when she discovered his love for his sister beneath the antagonism, and this reminded her of her lost Henmellyn. I’m still pretty convinced (although with this strip, virtually nothing is certain) that the queen is an avatar of Lena, and I don’t think Brooke will go there, although he’s dancing around it pretty closely.
Wupps, CougarChic beat me to the punch, but yeah.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. For some reason, UncaAlby, the phrase “phallic symbol” comes to mind.

Yes, I agree GorgoloChick.
And given that she has seen Roger a few times now, I wonder why, if the queen is indeed Lena, she has not alerted him to the fact? Seems like she would relish rubbing it in how powerful she has become.
GorgoloChick

But HAS she actually seen him? I mean, except in shadows? That’s what everyone is speculating about - how she will react when she actually sees who this guy is!
Bucky Katt

I don’t think she’s had a good look at him - Roger’s been in shadow for this whole episode.
corwin_argentus said, about 1 year ago
Hi G-Chick - I agree, toady boy has probably escaped her majesty’s appetites so far only for that reason and his lingering usefulness. Thing is, so many toadies are entuhsiastic voyeurs of the activities of the toady-object. Wonder if he has a peephole located in a conveniently oriented stone wall….?
corwin_argentus said, about 1 year ago
And yes, you are right on again G-Chick and Bucky - I don’t think she has seen him clearly, the lighting conditions were carefully drawn (Brooke is awesome with those details) if you look back at the panels to not give her majesty a clear view of Roger.
Aribeth de Tylmarande said, about 1 year ago
I definitely think that the Queen is Lena’s avatar. If she recognizes Roger, will she go through withher nefarious plans? The plot thickens.
Prospero74 said, about 1 year ago
True Lena hasen’t been seen in awhile and the glasses do seem to point in that direction. But I think Brooke is only doing that to throw us off, otherwise it wouldn’t be as compelling of a plot.
txmystic

Indeed y’all are correct, Roger’s latest attack came with a strong light from behind. Well, she explicitly requested a torch to be able to see him in the dungeon, so soon we’ll find out what happens. (I cannot believe I am uttering this) How I long for Monday!
macFicheallaigh said, about 1 year ago
Brooke has been throwing all kinds of hints about the Queen and Lena – there was that panel where we get our first look at the queen, and she’s wearing Lena’s glasses, and Lena’s teddy bear is perched on the table next to the candle. In earlier panels Lena whacks the Roger doll with a hoe, and Dru feels a discharge of focused evil, Dru ravishes the professor and Lena feels the event as “something inexpressibly beautiful,” Lena catches a glimpse of Dru flying by and says “I finally know what I want to be when I grow up.”
All these hints, but Brooke may only be setting us up for an even bigger surprise!

Considering her history, if this is Lena, how can she resist torturing Roger?
SirMirom said, about 1 year ago
As much as I’ve been resisting labeling the Queen as Lena, I am inclined to agree that it IS her, although I would have thought such a young girl wouldn’t be quite SO… um… interested in… um… emulating Dru.
I just remembered another thing - the queen said she took the glasses from a ‘still warm’ body, no? That to me could easily have been her alluding to being an outgrowth of Lena, as opposed to her murderer.
Oh, Brooke, if you’re listening, a vote for no incest… please!
GorgoloChick
said,

I like that interpretation of getting the glasses from a ‘still-warm body’. I think we can count on two things from Brooke - he won’t take us into incest territory, and he will surprise us no matter what we guess.

So, in this game, Toady is what you call a cue ball. Don’t know why, but I find that hillarious.
It’s odd, Satori didn’t know what had happened, while The Queen continued as if nothing had. This makes sense if Satori is entirely a product of the game, and The Queen isn’t; lending more credibility to the “Lena = Queen” theory.
Oh, and I’m sure Brooke won’t take us into “incest territory”, nor will show how The Queen (for lack of better words) looks “under” those clothes she just took off. We never were told/shown what happened in Drusilla’s dream explicitly, were we?
maeverin said, about 1 year ago
as much as i am also hesitant to label the Queen as Lena, i have to say they have a remarkable resemblance in the second panel.

I recall Lena’s hair being black and it looked like it was quite coarse/stiff and unruly.

Lena’s hair was a reddish brown, coarse and spiky.

This is how I read the whole saga from day one. News Flash:
Lena will be a captive in the same dungeon. Roger will free her. Details at eleven.
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
aerwalt – if you keep telling people that you can read the whole series from day one, if you just ignore that big ugly pop-up requesting payment – sooner or later, the gocomics.com people are going to wise up and make the comic totally unreadable, instead of merely annoyingly hard to read!
.
After all, this is their bread and butter. Those folks with the little green Pro next to their names are subsidizing it for us freeloaders (Thanks, guys!)
Gweedo Murray said, about 1 year ago
Amen brother. If we all have to be PRO (before our time) then I will just go do something else. I had a life before computers.

Aribeth de Tylmarande said, about 1 year ago
I joined with Pib’s previous publisher? Host? Anyway, it was far too expensive for what you got, since I only joined to read the whole Pib saga, anyway, I am now happily freeloading.
But if it took 20 bucks a year or even more, I’d pay it to read Pibgorn, my favorite webcomic.

Nabuquduriuzhur says:

I don’t know – the Evil Queen doesn’t prey on her own, but relies on minions to bring her new prey. She only turns to them when there is no one else.
I’m noticing the similarities to chess – knock off the queen, and you’ve nearly won the game. But who is the king? Roger Egg is so hooked up on computer games, and seeing this game from only that perspective, he isn’t making the leap from computer game to chess. Knock off anyone else, they come back. Knock off the queen, you win the game. Or do you? Who is the king here, in this magical ditalized chess game?
Speaking as a newcomer to Pibgorn, and enjoying the ride.

Oho. I see it now. Ahh, the confrontations to come! I can hardly wait. Monday will come in its own good time. Until then, I have something to look forward to.
I think Brooke is going to get us again. Monday, I expect a sudden shift to one of the other story arcs going on, leaving us hanging yet longer.

Wonder if the servant’s pointed head and strange countenance is why he has survived the Queen’s “sporting”?
If it isn’t Lena, why don’t the glasses distort her vision?

I think that’s it – she continues to wear the glasses, saying she got them off a corpse, but they’re actually hers.
The queen seems to have been relying on outside sources – she asks Fortesque if there are any fresh soldiers for her, Forteque answers “No Majesty, conscription is down.” “Very well then,” is the reply, “Prepare to be sucked dry.”
Toady is safe, so long as they bring the queen prey.

You know… we haven’t heard from Geoff in a while. I wonder how his fly is doing?
angel_blue_eyes said, about 1 year ago
ok.. I’m going to throw a wrench out here.. Is the Queen actually Oognat (sp) in evil format. Wasn’t Pib flying around with her when the whole energy suck happened? I mean is Pib and Dru can be come one, can’t Oognat (the hair fairy - whose hair coulour is very similar to the queen)take on Lena’s evil characteristics? She didn’t seem sur[rised by Dru, only in awe.. Lena would have been dropped jaw at Dru and want to dissect her(imho)… Oh for Monday
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
As someone said, Brooke may just be playing with us - if you lok back to the beginning of this sequence, the shadowy figure with Pib strapped to a torture frame, etc., who we now know to have been Spitcock was drawn so that when we first saw Roger, we were led to believe it had been Roger in the shadows until Spitcock showed up in propria persona.
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
No Pib was flying with Geoff (who has showed up briefly, still nude, recently) when she got de-rezzed into Spitcock’s clutches; she was flying with Oognat at the beginning of the “Man in Black” sequence.

I think the fans of Pib are a great read as well as the comic. I gleefully hop from one post to another with all your ponderings. One day when I’ve sort of caught up to everything maybe I’ll be able to add something interesting myself. :)

The first time I ever saw this strip was at the beginning of this story arc. Geoff was swimming, and Pib grabbed his leg from under water. Pib flew him up into the air when they were hit by what appeared to be lightening. Pib disappeared, and Geoff fell towards the earth, only to be saved by Dru, who snagged the waist of his swim trunks, which he subsequently lost. Thus we saw him later on, still nude, in some tall grass. He’s due to make another appearance right around now.

Keep in mind Mr. M does jump around some. We may not see the queen and Roger on Monday. Or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or…
sionan37 said, about 1 year ago
Pibgorn only is visible when Dru dreams. They are currently a combined creature which Pibgorn has created a single unit vision that only Dru and Pib can see. So when you see Dru with bat like wings that is the combined Pib/Dru.

It’s not just the wings sionan37, if you compare Dru and Pib separately and then the combination you will discern a blend of patterns and colors in the combination that reflects both.

I know I’m incredibly late to this discussion, but something’s been nagging on my mind. A few characters keep getting killed and then coming back to life. Do you suppose that’s meant to desensitize us for when someone dies and doesn’t come back to life?
