Charles Schulz was apparently 30 years ahead of Douglas Adams on one concept: “It’s a tough galaxy. If you wanna survive out here, you gotta know… where your Towel is.”
Or your Blanket, Linus’s case. We have seen him make a lot of practical use of it.

Leave him alone, Sally. I know he has to grow up sometimes but who says it has to be NOW?

Wait ’til CharlieBrown asks if kids at school make fun of him – ptwang! as he snaps a nickel out of the air with his wicked blanket snap → “Not for long,” Linus replies

It’s been claimed that in his adult years Linus had the blanket made into a lining for his vest (waistcoat for our overseas friends).

I do recall one storyarc where Linus actually did manage to give up the blanket, for good! He then went on to start a support group for other kids who can’t part from their blankets. The irony: Sally takes advantage of this to sneak in and spend time close to Linus, to Linus’s discomfort, and her actions quickly send Linus back into a relapse.
