I forget the name of the camp, but one of my friends went to one here in Oregon. Took a bite of boiled egg and got feathers.

Or maybe they just don’t know how to interact with their own children anymore… or not trying/putting in any effort at all.

It was a status thing back in the 50s and 60s, since sending your kids away to camp was almost as expensive as a semester of boarding school in the NE. The parents said it was “to teach their kids to get along with other kids”. The reality? A summer without them around.

I’ve heard of King snakes, but never a Queen snake. Perhaps Queen snakes only live in NY and San Fran.

Cooncat, I used to think Schulz made up queen snakes, but it turns out they’re real. It’s a harmless water snakes found in the eastern US and southeast Canada.

Assuming a Minnesota locale for Peanuts, Linus must be being sent a good distance if he’s going to be around queen snakes.

Although queen snakes are real, I expect Schulz didn’t research snakes, but rather chose to take a little kid’s idea of a dangerous situation by combining an aggressive snake with the common fairytale ‘evil queen’.

Linus wouldn’t want to meet the very real King Brown Snake in Oz. They’re very poisonous.
