Cheap shot. Obama is working his butt off, and taking a brief time to visit and be a role model for mostly minority school children in a depressed area who are otherwise ignored by Capitol bigwigs is a good thing to do.
Comparing this to Bush’s dothingness for years about Katrina is just ridiculous. I expected better of you, even though I know it must be hard to come up with an idea for a cartoon on a regular basis.
You should use your bully pulpit to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

kolling, cheap shot indeed … comparing a visit to a primary school classroom to Bush’s performance on Katrina is like comparing Katrina to a slight downpour

Yeah…he’s been in office almost THREE WHOLE WEEKS and all our problems are not solved yet.
PAJ said, 9 months ago
Yes it is more comparable to the ex-Gov of IL and his photo ops across the major networks

All I have to say is Rush Limbaugh has nothing on you. The man has only been in office a little over a week. It’s going to take longer than that to kill 8 years of Bushanomics.

It’s admirable that Oli never betrays a partisan slant and spares no public official his biting wit. However, I’m scratching my head over this one. To draw a parallel between Bush’s “My Pet Goat” / 911 terrorist attack with Obama reading to children during a severe and prolonged economic recession is, in my opinion, a poor device. “The Little Flower” read the Sunday comics to listeners over the radio during the Depression, which didn’t jeopardize his ability to effectively serve as Gotham’s mayor. I’m afraid Oli phoned this one in. Just sayin’.

BOO! I agree, this is a really cheap shot, particularly that subtle Katrina reference. He *is* working his butt off, but he can’t be working on that bill 24/7–there’s 535 other people who are involved as well & the ball’s in their court right now. The delays are all about them. Seems like spending a bit of time with the kids is a better use of the wait time–gives him a little break & gives the kids a chance to see him up close. How about picking on the senat for screwing around with YouTube?

It is not a wash to compare a visit to the school to Bush reading “MPG”. He’s only been in office what- two weeks?” Pat just isn’t up to his usual standard of perfection with this one.

At least Obama can read to kids, AND speak in adult language. He can also get something done back at the office at the same time. In two weeks he’s done more to promote action, and promote thoughtful communication across party lines than in the previous eight years. But hey, who wants that?

I think Mr. Oliphant has finally gone over the edge into dementia. I unsubbed him for his blatant sexism and added him back - now he’s just stupid. I’m sorry about that.

I think it might be better if none of them ever went to work.. Get rid of the hot air in Washington it would take care of Global Warming and most of our other problems

Rotnrichard, what are you smoking? The economy is in the toilet, a lot of people I know are unemployed. We need honest Effective government.
