    Cobbler’s bench, not mulberry bush.

    Read a partial explanation of the song once. Weasel is cockney slang for overcoat, pop means to pawn. When the money’s gone the coat gets pawned. Forget the rest.

    @bigDay

    I’ve heard both, although “cobbler” came first to mind.

    My kid wants a mongoose, and she asked me what it is, I told her it’s like a ferret. Then she asked what’s a ferret? So then I told her it’s like a weasel. And of course she asks me what’s a weasel? Finally I told her that it’s like a rat.

    I seem to remember mulberry bush, too. Could it be a matter of geography?

    Verne, ever the voice of reason caught between the ultimate cynic R.J. and Hammy, who travels by butterfly.

    A mongoose? Are you sure she meant the mammal and not the bicycle? (fyi, besides snakes, mongoose are known to kill rats)

    Definitely “Cobbler’s bench”. Mulberry Bush is another rhyme.
