In Robert Heinlein’s ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’, a visiting alien observes that all humour is based on misfortune.
The maddening thing is …he was right!

It’s only funny until someone gets hurt, then it’s hilarious.

Sort of like the old Bill Crosby game called “Buck,Buck”

As usual, RJ has a point…
I do feel sorry for Verne, though…all these cows appear to be falling back to Earth in the same place – where Verne was standing…

I think you’ve mixed up Bill Cosby and Bing Crosby . . . hey, wait a minute – both family men, both humorous yet clean (in the sense of non-vulgar), never seen together – Maybe they’re the SAME PERSON?

It’s a good thing Verne’s protected by that hard candy shell! Can you spell Schadenfreude? Jump, cows! Jump!

If RJ and Hammy were to move Verne, would the cows change trajectory?

Several people have opined, hopefully tongue in cheek, that all humor is based on cruelty. I can think of many exceptions myself, so I prefer less absolute observations.
Sadly, Zippy the Pinhead beat OTH to this punchline. But his delivery didn’t involve cows, so…

Now you see why I don’t like most humor and do not engage in it.
