Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle is an avowed independent who covers politics and contemporary cultural issues in a way that connects with readers. His loose, idiosyncratic style carries with it an unconventional message that has broad appeal. "I approach my work with a healthy skepticism for the ideological extremists littering our political landscape," explains Anderson.

These flea-infested thugs have to oppress women and children with their guns in order to find somebody — anybody — with whom they can feel important rather than impotent.

Or, as some observers have stated, the Taliban just longs for the 11th century, and desperately so.

Note that almost every Muslim has condemned the shooters, and the Islamic World has taken up a large collection. Muslims paid to fly her to Britain and are paying for all her medical treatments.

Ah, yes, then there’s the “sanity” of Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist loony toons folks.

@dtroutma
Maybe you need to apologize for comparing the Taliban to Crazy Fred and his Merry Band Of Lunatics…
Apologize to the Taliban, that is…
Bob Vious said, 8 months ago
Not that they aren’t loons, but who have Westboro Baptist killed? Let alone what little girl have they shot? What buildings have they plowed planes into? Did they bomb something that I didn’t hear about? When they do so, make your comparisons, otherwise you’re just showing your lack of ability to come up with an apt parallel. If you’re trying to compare Christianity to Islam because there is one church of outspoken nuts, it’s a feeble attempt. The most vicious of Christians are pussycats compared to the meanest of the Muslims.

There are 36 THOUSAND “Christian sects” in the U.S..Well, without a plane, there was the Murrah building, and numerous attacks on mosques and synagogues over the years. From Jim Jones, to whackos in Waco, kids haven’t been safe in a lot of “good Christian groups”. Then there’s the gentle persuasion of the Inquisition for a few centuries of torture, and murder.
Sorry, but it IS appropriate to compare the nut cases in the Taliban to nut cases in many other “faiths”, certainly not just Christian, but let’s not spend so much time avoiding the historical obvious, either.

obviously no one remembers the Inquistions in Spain or the salem witch trials or the Nazis and the holocaust. There are still Christians around that espouse all three and would bring them back when they get power, that is thier promise

In some parts of the United States there is fear of education if it includes science and history. I’m so glad to hear Malala is improving, I hope she remains in the prayers of all. Oh, and for my atheist friends, just send some positive vibes her way. It’s all good.
Peace.

Yes, C, a little girl of tremendous courage, we should all, as humans, of whatever faith, have her courage.

My hope would be for her to be a Joan of Arc, but without the martyrdom.

Education is ALWAYS a danger to religions everywhere.

I hope you noted the lists provided by dtroutma and Gary Williams. I’d add South Africa and the KKK; it would be easy to extend the list. The 30 Years War, anyone? The recent pleasantries in what was once Yugoslavia? Northern Ireland?
I’m not defending the muslims. Many of them are violent, aggressive cretins. So are many christians. Hitchens’ book was subtitled “How Religion Poisons Everything”, not how any particular religion does.
