    Yeah, we can then depend on the GOP to take care of “us”. Right?

    You know, if the health care system that Obamacare is poised to replace was truly a good one, I could understand the vitriol. I understand there are many problems within Obamacare, but anyone who believes the previous system was somehow not worth changing has never been truly sick. Good for you, but it’s hard to know how well (or poorly)
    a system works if you never used the system.

    A handful of people around here keep saying “the poor can go to the ER”. It took me a little while to understand why; I mean, they claim to be fiscal conservatives and to favor personal responsibility, but the “go to the ER” plan runs counter to both- it discourages regular checkups to maintain one’s health, and it’s actually more expensive to the rest of us.
    But then I realized the one reason why they’d be for it- it ensures that the poor suffer. And to some people around here, that’s what matters the most.

    I’ll write it again: The SOLE AND ONLY Teabaghead/Republican “Health Care” program is, simply: “If you can’t afford to pay – however much the cost – for major illness or disability, DIE OFF and get out of the way!”

    @ansonia,
    Again with the assertions designed to muddy the waters. Please explain just HOW " . . . it would have cost less just to pay for the healthcare for those who couldn’t get insurance than to pass this failure", squares up with your equally assinine remark about how “there will always be people who choose to not pay for healthcare”, and your constant criticism of something that DOES PAY FOR healthcare for those who couldn’t get insurance in the first place.
    ^
    You seem to want to keep people “healthy” in one sentence; and then you remark about “forcing insurance” upon those who you say “choose” to be without it “won’t work”. Of course, as with all thoe who despise those who are “beneath” them, in whatever way, you know lack of insurance coverage to be a matter of “choice”, rather than considering the much greater possibility of its being totally un-afforable for many, and even when potentially affordable, unavailable in coverage to meet their needs.
    ^
    Reminds me of the poster yesterday who asserted that the United States Supreme Court “approved the Bill without ever reading it”. Nonsense!

    @NFLRedskins.
    Perhaps you might deign to explain how Reid had anything to do with the 42 times Bawling Baby Boehner, who currently disgraces the Office of Speaker of the House of Representatives, tried to “repeal” the ACA, while NOT EVEN BEGINNING to attempt to provide a Budget for the U.S.A., as the Constitution clearly indicates is the DUTY of the House.
    ^
    Might you be faulting the WRONG MAN for someone else’s dereliction of duty?

    “There will always be people who choose to not pay for healthcare. Forcing it on them won’t work.”

    You hit the nail on the head there. Congress and the politicians whose health coverage is fully paid by the taxpayers just won’t let it go. It’s clear they have no intention whatever to make any change that would force them to pay their way.

    I’m retired, on a very limited fixed income. I pay for my health care. When are they going to step up?

    Agreed. Back to my continued argument for Single Payer. Have a national sales tax to pay for it. This way, everyone contributes, whether they want to or not.

    That’s an interesting angle — I never thought of that.
    But then all the evidence serves to prove it.

    That’s the best plan I have heard offered. And the simplest. But you know what they say’ if you want to gum up a plan, first you have to form a committee.’
