Although I am certainly not a fan of corporate America, and despise many of their actions and un-equal access to congress & the White House, this country still has an undeniable problem with the corporate tax rate. I do not understand all the mechanics of it, but at 35%, it is said to be substantially much higher than Europe and Asia. Over the past years, I have read articles in the business section of the Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal and some other publications about how many corporations are legitimately stymied by this rate, which puts them at a dis-advantage with foreign competition. About two years ago, “60 Minutes” did a segment on the subject, where the numbers were put up to show how Asian & European corpoations have the edge over us. Rather than give tax breaks to the most wealthy in this country, Congress must address the problem, but has refused to do so for years now!
I would be interested in hearing other NON-POLITICAL facts and opinions on this subject.
