Not just Obama. Apparently, 395 out of 435 members of the House, agree.

The Israelis can pay for Iron Dome. Our money let’s them spend money on other things.

So rocket attacks on Israeli civilians are ok, but Israel responding to those with force is not?
OK Matt….. Maybe we should let one of our only democratic allies in the Middle East be annihilated by a terrorist group.
    Sound good?

I condemn that Hamas uses civilians as a shield!

With the concrete that Hamas used to build their tunnels – which was used to kill, kidnap or create terror in Israel – you could have build 7 buildings of a similar size of the tallest buildings.

Just remember America went to war after two buildings were destroyed by two attacks. Thousands of rockets have been fired into Israel, how would America react? Each of the rockets is designed to kill civilians – Hamas does not care where it lands.

Israel is not totally innocent, but we must not forget that Hamas has its hands black with the blood of its own civilians!

I guess another solution would be if everyone stopped killing each other and over a few generations they could probably trust each other enough to open borders and drop most restrictions. But then again, I guess it’s more fun to have a war every few years.

    “…another solution…”

You know who had a “final solution”?

Balto Bill. I’ve been trying to figure out your remark to Mr. Lind. He makes a good point. We live together in peace for awhile, we’ll start to forget our stupid hatreds. You bring up Hitler. Are you saying Lind’s comment is Hitler-like?

That has to be the most ill-informed piece of nonsense I’ve had to read on this website.
I would suggest reading a history or 3 of the Arab-Israeli Conflict and not believing stuff you read on the Internet.

Did you happen to see last Sunday’s Doonesberry? An excellent commentary on conservative satire.

The cartoon misleadingly suggests that Israel is deliberately attacking civilians. While this would be accurate if said of Hamas, Israel is in fact taking extraordinary measures to try to avoid killing civilians in Gaza. I say “extraordinary” in the sense that I am unaware of any other army, including that of the United States, which has taken so much care in similar circumstances (which include an enemy making extensive use of human shields) to avoid civilian casualties.

Yea it has nothing to do with the fact that Israel is just defending itself.

Well, you have to look very hard to see Obama racing to defend Israel. He did send John Kerry, (who has vast wartime experience from his service in Viet Nam), to frown and tsk-tsk and tut-tut as much as he finds necessary.
Just as soon as I get the range and timing dialed in, I’m going to purge that whole side of the world with a solar mass ejection, unless I miss and hit my side of the world instead.
    In that case, oh well…

“Just remember America went to war after two buildings were destroyed by two attacks. Thousands of rockets have been fired into Israel, how would America react?”

Probably the most insightful comment here. We’d kick the snot out of anyone that attacked us the way Hamas attacks Israel. But, does that make it right? More importantly, does that make it the best response among the options Israel could take? Unlike the US, oceans don’t separate Israel from its enemies.

Israel & the Palestinians have been at this for decades. My take on it, is that Israel has been winning. My suspicion is that some of Israel’s leaders see every Israeli civilian death as a chance to ramp up the violence & win more territory from the Palestinians. Every violent engagement between Israel & its enemies has resulted in territorial gains for Israel. Large chunks of the West Bank have been “settled” by Israelis.

However, the Israelis suffer from a demographic dilemma: the Palestinians are reproducing at a much higher rate than the Israelis, both inside Israel & in the Palestinian territories. Israel’s growth has been fueled by Jewish immigrants, but they are reaching the point where there aren’t many more Jews willing to relocate to Israel.

Time is no longer in favor of Israel’s strategy. Responding to Hamas’ ineffective attacks with strikes that kill Palestinian civilians only makes more enemies. Our outrage that Hamas uses those civilians as a human shield is not shared by the Muslim world. Unless Israel is willing to be the perpetrator of its own holocaust, accommodation is the only chance at long term survival.

Some of the founders of Israel were branded as terrorists by the British. They came around when given the opportunity. Hamas can be brought around if they see better alternatives than violence.

“A minority of Americas note that, since the Palestinians are Arabs, and the Israelis do not intend to kill a significant percentage of Arabs outside Israel, it would not be Genocide to kill ALL the Palestinians, just ethnic cleansing.”

Satire aside, a sizable number of Americans think Israel’s complete control of the biblical homeland, is one of the keys to Armageddon.
