Turn the phone off, take out the battery and run it through the dishwasher. I’ve done this with a $20 keyboard and it worked just fine. Electronics are exceptionally water resistant if totally removed from their power sources and well-dried later. I let my keyboard “hang out” on a heating vent for a couple of days.
I’ve even rescued computers that were submerged in mud caused by a flood. We hosed them off, hung the boards up to dry and reassembled them. Nonetheless, I don’t think I’d try this technique with a $200+ phone.
There are cases you can get that have a protective sheet – replace the sheet or case when needed. Otherwise turn off the phone and use a damp cloth.
