Quite possibly. Capp was great at putting public figures into his strips.
One time, Abner was in front of the White House exclaiming how nice it would be to live there.
Never did quite ID the other man that said “Who wouldn’t?”
but suspected it was Dewey? (early 50s)
(Abner was in WDC to return a 5c overcharge made by their endless hot-dog machine – surely you read about it in LIME magazine?)
