Because most people reading this comic wouldn’t care about it. Not all readers are americans.

When someone dies, no matter how tragically or violently, we have to remember that life goes on. Those who were affected personally will remember in their own way. Those of us who were not affected will be sympathetic but not intrusive into their lives.
.
We all have problems and catastrophes but we do not involve others in our “down times” and don’t insist that others remember what happened to us.
