    Like maybe if the sprinklers were on outside, Odie can come back and shake all the water on to Garfield.

    Too bad “Garfield Minus Garfield” is over. Today’s strip would be particularly Zen.

    If that is a dropkick, it’s worth 2 points!

    Don’t know about Zen:

    When the window is closed it is not a window. It could be called a sunnow. Window being a contraction of “wind hole” so when it’s shut all that enters is light and it becomes a “sun hole”.

    But, yes, there is a sound when it shatters and no one hears.

    @pcolli

    “Wind hole” sounds reasonable, but history doesn’t back it up. The Oxford Dict. (and who would know better?) says the origin of “window” is in a Scandinavian word for “wind-eye”.

    The NFL is looking for good kickers, Garfield. Can you kick Odie 50 yards?

    You’ve obviously done the research….I’m only going by what I was taught. None the less, when it’s shut the wind can’t get in, only the light – so it should have a different name. One thing becomes another. The point was the duality of the thing – a Zen tie-in. But I’m glad we don’t disagree.

    Considerate of him to open the window first. That is probably the nearest he’ll get to a Be Kind to Odie Week. He must also be working off the accumulated energy reserves from resting up all last week and Mon-Tue of this one.

    You didn’t have to kick Odie, Garfield.

    This has been going on for a long time, perfect running gag. But today’s strip just seems mean for some reason… Cute is okay but please try not to be mean spirited, okay? Peace.
